Kate Woods was born in Texas but shares her sense of “home” with NYC, where she resided for 20 years. Kate moved to NYC in 1997 where she attended School of Visual Arts and received her BFA in Graphic Design. She studied abroad in Italy during her undergraduate and graduate years and later received an MS in Art Education from Pratt Institute. The “Italy” part is important because this is where Kate fell in love with the contrasting sunlight of the streets and landscape. The earth tones, supreme contrast of light and dark, and the vast lines and shapes found in Italy continue to inspire her work. 

Kate has worked in the arts and in makeup artistry for over 20 years and now works full time as a cosmetic tattoo artist. She continues to paint, draw, and learn new things. While she has dabbled in many creative ventures, they all share the common theme of her love of lines and color.
